The Sabbath of November 27th 2010 marked the first Investiture for the Pathfinders of Kennington Community Fellowship. From its humble beginnings with just a few youth, and a few teachers in September 2009, the group has grown in membership and in spirit, to become the pride of the Kennington congregation.
To start the day in true style, all the Pathfinders stood to attention and, supported by the Brixton drum corp, they marched across the hall, watched by their proud family and their friends and the rest of the Kennington fellowship.
The whole service, being led by the pathfinder group, really proved to be a tribute to the talent and flare within the youth. After pathfinder teacher Jadanna led out in the uplifting and soulful praise team service, the congregation listened on as four of the pathfinders led out in the sermon presentation. Chyna came to the pulpit to give the first message, and was then followed by her fellow pathfinders Amon, and Chelsea, who prepared the way for the final messenger, Taj.
After the hearty lunch, and the impromptu drum lesson and drum show by the guest drum corp led by Adam Greeves, the Investiture service was started, and the prizes were given to all members from the little little lambs to the Voyagers.
The pathfinders of Kennington Community Fellowship now join the international pathfinders movement whose aim is to help spread ‘The Advent Message to all the world in this generation’. Kennington now look forward to their second Pathfinders investiture next year as they continue to grow leaders for the future of the church, and we hope you will be there to join us.
Many thanks go to Percy, Hyacinth and Vanessa McDonald, the pathfinder leaders, Kerry, Velma, Corrine, Rachel, Dionne, Jadanna, Shannon, Jessenia, Juliet and Maxine, the Pathfinder teachers, Deacon Wale, and Elder Jermaine. Special thanks go to the Brixton Drum corp.
